Trump budget threatens to end grants for Puget Sound

Washington state officials, environmental advocates and others are warning of dire environmental and economic consequences if President Trump’s cuts to Puget Sound and other environmental programs go through as proposed. The EPA’s funding for Puget Sound — about $28 million last year — would be gutted under Trump’s budget blueprint released Thursday.


Water bill moves quickly through Idaho legislature

A bill that would codify into state law a landmark Idaho Supreme Court decision on who owns in-stream stock watering rights on federal land is sailing through the Legislature with little opposition. Senate Bill 1111 passed the Senate by a 34-0 vote and has been sent to the House.


Alberta earmarks $100M for water in new budget

Alberta has released its Budget 2017, which includes $100 million in new funding to support access to water systems throughout the province. The capital investments are meant to support the “integration of regional drinking water systems with federally-supported water systems for Alberta’s Indigenous communities.”
