The Water Research Foundation has released the Blueprint for One Water, a practical guide for agencies seeking to manage water resources holistically and sustainably. Brown and Caldwell developed the blueprint, which was sponsored by WRF, with input from over 800 water professionals who participated in an international survey, more than 10 one-on-one interviews, and a two-day international workshop with 35 water professionals.

Inslee pushes carbon tax to fund water projects

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said Thursday he hopes the chance to fund major irrigation projects will soften Republican opposition to a carbon tax, though two high-ranking GOP senators signaled that it’s unlikely. Inslee said a carbon tax could provide money for ambitious water projects. The governor’s office estimates a carbon tax would raise $1.9 billion the first year. The tax would increase each year.

Study will develop model of Treasure Valley aquifer

Idaho Department of Water Resources is teaming up with the U.S. Geological Survey to create a detailed flow model of the aquifer system that underlies the rapidly growing Treasure Valley. The five-year project will provide water managers with a tool they can use to help ensure the valley’s urban and agricultural areas continue to receive the water they depend on in southwestern Idaho.
