Sewage
spill cause for alarm
Duluth News Tribune
- 7/31
Does
this bother anyone else? Close to 5 million gallons of raw sewage
dumped into the St. Louis Bay! WLSSD's reply (more or less): "We
will get on top of this situation."
When?
After another 5 million or 10 million gallons, or maybe after
someone gets very ill from contact with the water? Do you think
maybe this is affecting tourism and fishing now (and later) when
the beaches are closed due to the spillage and people are advised
not to even touch the water?
As
a concerned water consumer and former St. Louis Bay fisherman,
I'm thinking maybe the EPA and the DNR should both wake up and
set up a permanent office at WLSSD and start following through
with fines and penalties that should be imposed. To the City of
Duluth utilities departments, thank you for doing your job of
making the "tainted" lake water drinkable.
