Town
considers sewer study
The Times-Union -

SYRACUSE – If
approved, it will cost $24,400 for a South Bend engineering firm
to draw up a Long Drive Sewer Master Plan.
Town manager
Brian Redshaw submitted a proposal for the master plan to the town
council Tuesday night.
The plan
addresses drainage concerns in an area around the new Community
Center bordered by Ind. 13 on the west, Washington Street on the
south, Long Drive on the east and County Line Road on the north.
The plan would be
drawn up by Greeley and Hansen, LLC. The town council took the
proposal under advisement.
The goal is to
determine the most cost-effective alternative for collecting storm
runoff along Ind. 13 and Long Drive.
Greeley and
Hansen would:
• Prepare a
project plan and manage the project.
• Collect local
contour data, outline the watershed and calculate the amount of
runoff.
• Develop a
storm sewer master plan for the area that will show recommended
runoff routing along Ind. 13 and Long Drive.
• Recommend
physical treatment methods to enhance storm water runoff quality
before transport to Syracuse Lake.
• Provide a
cost-of-service study.
• Prepare a
report summarizing the cost of the project.
Redshaw said
there are funds available in the cumulative storm sewer fund to
pay for the study.
