St. Cloud OKs sale of water

St. Cloud Times - 7/15

Final agreement on the sale of drinking water from St. Cloud to St. Augusta for the next 10 years is near.

St. Cloud City Council members agreed Monday to provide 250,000 gallons a day on average to its neighbor to the south. Maximum daily water usage cannot exceed 625,000 gallons.

The rate per 100 gallons is 35 cents next year, increasing to 48 cents by 2013. At maximum capacity, the water would cost St. Augusta $87,500 next year.

The St. Augusta City Council is expected to vote on the agreement tonight. Construction of a planned sewer and water system in St. Augusta has been estimated at $1.7 million. The two cities earlier this year agreed on the sale of 100,000 gallons a day of sewer capacity for $18,750 a year.
