Village
OKs bid on water tower

The
Montogmery Village Board this week approved a $2.3 million bid
to build a new water tower on the village's far west side to accommodate
growth.
CB&I
Constructors Inc. of Plainfield will build the new tower with
a 2 million gallon tank northwest of Gordon Road and U.S. Bypass
30 in the Fairfield Way subdivision. The project is expected to
be complete in June 2004, said Mike Pubentz, public works director.
The
village also has approved a nearly $1.8 million contract to build
a second water-treatment plant in the same area, and the village's
fifth deep well recently was dug, Pubentz said. The village also
has four shallow wells, he added.
"There's
a higher demand on our system now because of the growth on the
west side of our community," Pubentz said.
All
of the costs for the water system expansion are being paid for
with $2,000 water tap-on fees paid on each new home built in the
village, Village Manager Anne Marie Gaura, said.
