Overflow shuts down lift station

Duluth News Tribune - 1/17

A broken force main caused a minimal sewer overflow in the Central Hillside neighborhood of Duluth on Thursday. The overflow occurred at the sewage lift station at 2915 N. Seventh Ave. E.

The lift station has been shut down until the force main is fixed, likely today. A small amount of sewage, about 8 gallons per hour, escaped. Residents should avoid contact with any sewer overflow because of the potential for exposure to disease-causing organisms. Residents also are asked to report any overflow from manholes.
