Photo
of the Week
Construction season in Minnesota is in full swing. This photo
shows about half of the first 1300-foot reach of 54" HDPE
for the MCES Empire WWTP Outfall, butt-fused and floating in
a Mississippi River backwater prior to placement in a trench
to be excavated across the floodplain. The project includes
almost 3600 feet of this pipe crossing floodplain, backwaters
and islands, and two vortex drop structures with connecting
tunnels to bring the flow down the 120-foot high river bluff.
Brown and Caldwell's Chuck Lewis is managing the project, with the able assistance
of Dave Sapp, Don Song and (photographer) Tom Noerenberg, all
members of BC's St. Paul staff. (Courtesy of
Brown and Caldwell.)
