It’s a result of the board’s regulations that require cities to reduce pollution in Southern California’s surface waters, including Santa Monica Bay." Contamination alert posted for Imperial Beach (SD Union Tribune, 7/17) "Rain-driven pollution out of Baja California prompted a contamination alert Monday encompassing miles of ocean shoreline from the international border to the northern limits of Imperial Beach." —  Wastewater Santa Rosa may ship wastewater to river (Santa Rosa Press Democrat, 7/17) "Santa Rosa is considering discharging billions of gallons of wastewater a year directly into the Russian River as a way to deal with water quality regulations." —  Solid Waste New fee benefits Clovis landfill (Fresno Bee, 7/18) "A new development fee will take effect in October that will pay for expansion of the city's landfill. The $291-per-new-home fee was approved 5-0 Monday night by the Clovis City Council in a larger package of developer fees." —  Pesticides EPA settles with So. Calif. pesticide company (EPA, 7/17) NEWS RELEASE. Bankruptcy may be a winner for Los Osos (SLO Tribune, 7/17) Thanks to G.R. Hensley for this one: "With $1.7 million in bills due by October, $1.3 million available to pay for its existing obligations and more than $40 million in outstanding debts, Los Osos officials say they could be forced to declare bankruptcy." Draft EA/FONSI for CCWD acreage (Bureau of Reclamation, 7/17) NEWS RELEASE.
