New weir rules sought in Sacramento (Sacramento Bee, 1/20) "City and county leaders say they will press state officials to update operating rules for the Sacramento Weir, claiming current conditions may put Sacramento at unnecessary risk for flood." —  Lawsuits Plaintiffs settle for $30 million in the Santa Susana Field Lab case (Simi Valley Acorn, 1/19) "Aerospace giant Boeing Co. agreed to pay $30 million to settle an eight-year-old lawsuit brought by 133 plaintiffs who claim that pollution created by 50 years of nuclear and rocket engine testing at the Santa Susana Field Lab in the Santa Susana Hills caused a number of illnesses, according to one of those plaintiffs." The early bird gets the water fee lawsuit (SLO Tribune, 1/19) "A lawsuit over water connection fees against the Nipomo Community Services District hinges on whether it was filed three days late. Judge Martin J. Tangeman issued a tentative ruling Wednesday saying he believes the plaintiffs filed too late." —  Local/Agency News New chair elected to the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency (Santa Cruz Sentinel, 1/20) "Rosemarie Imazio, a flower grower on Shell Road and a Sunset Beach native, has been elected as chair of the board of directors for the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency."  Zone 7 Water Agency board member named (Contra Costa Times, 1/20) "Pleasanton resident Christopher Moore has been appointed to fill the unexpired term of Zone 7 Water Agency board member John Marchand, who vacated his seat after being elected in November to the Livermore City Council."
