 Professional Certificate in Water Management and Landscape Sustainability at San Diego State University (online)
Water is critically important to life, and San Diego sits at the end of the water pipeline. Providing safe and reliable water supply to support the 3.1 million residents is a major responsibility in water supplies, infrastructure and operations. In an area so reliant on imported water, this program — available online — is designed to give adult learners knowledge and skill preparation for a career in the water industry.

 Water 101: The Basics and Beyond
It's time to go back to school as the Water Education Foundation holds a day-and-a-half course on California water basics and water district board member governance on the UC Davis campus, Feb. 23–24. The course is open to anyone, but will be especially beneficial to water resource industry staff, engineering and environmental firm personnel, legislators, legislative staff, advocates, stakeholders, environmentalists, public interest organizations and water district directors. Top speakers are committed to teach the course, led by WEF board member Byron Buck, executive director of the State and Federal Contractors Water Agency. Registration fee is $150 and includes all educational materials, coffee breaks, lunch Feb. 23, and a graduation certificate upon completion of the course.

 Introduction to Groundwater and Watershed Hydrology: Monitoring, Assessment and Protection
This short course Feb. 28-29 at UC Davis will review the fundamental principles of groundwater and watershed hydrology, water quality, and water contamination. It will provide an overview of the most common tools for measuring, monitoring, and assessing groundwater and surface water resources. And it will review current local, state, and federal programs dealing with groundwater and watersheds.

Renewal, Prep Courses for State Treatment Exam
CA-NV-AWWA has a Water Conservation Workshop, Treatment Reviews, Backflow Course and Backflow Refresher coming up in Northern California for those of you in need of contact hours for your renewal, help preparing for the upcoming State Treatment Exam or if you just want to learn something new.

Gavilan College Water Industry Training Classes
Gavilan College now offers a wide variety of training classes for all areas of the water industry. The school also is developing an Associate's Degree and Certificate program.

AWWA eLearning: Education Straight from the Source
An online learning tool for water industry professionals. AWWA's eLearning platform offers quality training, professional development, and continuing education units (CEUs) via the Internet available 24/7. Learn on your own time and at your own pace.

Certification Exam Prep Online Courses for Water, Wastewater and Distribution Operators
American Water College is offering several courses, each designed to the Association of Boards Certification specifications. Discounts are offered to agencies that enroll multiple students.

Water Distribution and Treatment Operator Test Prep Classes
The California Department of Public Health will offer classes to help students prepare for taking their operator certification exams. Class size is limited, so register early.

Water Conservation Certification Program
CA-NV AWWA is partnering with the Association of Boards of Certification in a survey of certified backflow prevention assembly testers.

SSO-WDR Compliance Workshops
With the state gearing up for enforcement, you don't want to be caught out of compliance. CWEA is offering two SSO-WDR compliance workshops throughout California. Each workshop will give you up to 7 CWEA Contact Hours in Collection Systems and includes morning coffee and lunch.

These online CSU Sacramento courses include lessons, readings, video clips, animated illustrations, student exercises and exams. The readings, student exercises and video clips are contained on a companion CD that integrates with online materials. If you prefer reading from a printed book, the appropriate training manuals may be purchased.

Trench Safety Awareness
This Web-based training exercise from the CDC contains material on conducting a safe trenching operation. Topics include the four types of trench collapse, the frequency and cost of trench collapses, trench soil types, and common trench protective systems.
