Ready to reclaim

On the outskirts of the Permian Basin town of Big Spring, workers have spent the past few weeks putting a roof on a facility that, when it begins operating this year, will be perhaps the first plant in the nation to process wastewater to put into a drinking water system. Abilene Reporter-News

A safe, drinkable water project developed at Texas A&M University and applicable for use by people in poor regions of America and around the world will be featured at the 2012 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D. C., beginning June 27. TAMU Times

Happy 40th!

Forty years ago Richard Nixon was president, gas cost 36 cents a gallon, and a battle was on in Arkansas over the proposal to dam the Buffalo River. In mid-May, a celebration marked the 40th anniversary of the river being placed under the protection of the National Park Service via designation as a National River. Lovely County Citizen
