Stakeholders reach settlement in water rights case

A collective sigh of relief was let out in 6th Judicial District Court this week after a settlement was reached by several local agencies with a stake in the water rights of the Animas-La Plata Project stored in Colorado's Lake Nighthorse. “It is a complicated case, with complex claims and complex objections,” said Chief District Judge Gregory Lyman, who will review the settlement and issue his ruling on the decades-long debate Dec. 10.

USDA to invest $8M in Ogallala Aquifer
