WRF's new Blueprint for One Water guides agencies

The Water Research Foundation has released the Blueprint for One Water, a practical guide for agencies seeking to manage water resources holistically and sustainably. Brown and Caldwell developed the blueprint, which was sponsored by WRF, with input from over 800 water professionals who participated in an international survey, more than 10 one-on-one interviews, and a two-day international workshop with 35 water professionals.


Southwest states fail to finalize drought plan

Southwest states will not reach a new agreement to avert major cutbacks in Colorado River water before the Trump administration takes over. Even after months of negotiations, Arizona, California and Nevada will come up short of finalizing a deal on how to leave more water in the Lake Mead reservoir. Officials had hoped to finalize the so-called "drought contingency plan" by the end of 2016.

A new policy brief from the Brookings Institute breaks down how cities with large drinking water utilities are financing their water systems, and what challenges they’re facing. The report offers several suggestions for cities to drive water investments most efficiently: better managing systems that involve multiple agencies, improving accounting practices, and strategic financial planning.
