As implementation of the first Delta Plan enters its third year, the Delta Plan Interagency Implementation Committee held the second of two semi-annual meetings Nov. 16 in Sacramento. The committee discussed the challenges facing the Delta and what their respective agencies are doing to address them, and listened to a briefing on the Delta Challenges report.


Catalina Island looks to ocean for drinking water

Catalina Island is getting a new tool to help fight the drought, as officials unveiled a new desalination plant on Monday to bring additional freshwater to the island community. Due to go online next week, the plant was put together in less than five months.


Hydrologist calls for action on groundwater policy

San Francisco State University

A team of scientists led by a San Francisco State University hydrologist is calling on global leaders to work together to develop strategies for maintaining the world's groundwater supplies amid escalating climate change. A new report will be presented today in Paris during the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21).
