At the time the Delta Plan was adopted in 2013, the state wanted a comprehensive approach to infrastructure and habitat restoration through the Bay Delta Conservation Planning process. The plan, as written at the time, anticipated that many of the conservation measures contained in the BDCP would contribute to the success of ecosystem restoration. A planned amendment will incorporate new scientific information developed since then.

Oroville Dam coalition, legislators head to D.C.

State Sen. Jim Nielsen, Assemblyman James Gallagher and Oroville Dam Coalition members are heading to Washington, D.C., this week to address what they say are outstanding issues following the spillway crisis. Meanwhile, Reps. John Garamendi and Doug LaMalfa introduced a bill Monday that would require an additional environmental review of Oroville Dam.

Tracy students aid South Sudan, 1 bottle at a time

Students at Tracy Learning Center are working hard to transform lives in South Sudan, one recycled water bottle at a time. The project began in September, and the goal is to raise $5,000 by April. As of Tuesday, they had already raised $1,300. "We're trying to teach our students about the importance of recycling and using water responsibility," teacher Alex Sabedra said.
