As the memory of the driest four-year period in the state's history fades, Stanford researchers warn not to relax water conservation practices. In order to motivate continued action on water conservation and drought preparedness, a Stanford research team has developed a new interactive web portal using data from almost 400 utilities from across the state that visualizes how they performed between 2014 and 2017.


Follow the $$$: Delta tunnels foes' new strategy

Opponents of the Delta tunnels, struggling to kill the project on environmental grounds, now are trying to undermine its financial structure. Six groups filed court papers late Thursday to derail plans to bankroll the tunnels with bond financing. The groups said bonds can't be issued because the tunnels violate state environmental laws and because the project has received illegal federal subsidies.
