Many snags ahead for California water bill packages

California lawmakers are pushing to get a big water bill off its current glacial pace. But history cautions that legislation this ambitious always takes time, and plenty of it. The common denominator is Sen. Dianne Feinstein, again going big with a $1.3 billion water package. The question is whether negotiators can finally reach an elusive agreement.

Merced OKs emergency water distribution plan

Residents in Merced County can now apply for temporary help if their wells run dry. The program will allow families to receive deliveries of up to 50 gallons of non-potable water a day per person for health and sanitation purposes. They would also get one gallon of bottled water each day per person for drinking and cooking.

Coalition unveils new education campaign, toolkit

Water Environment Federation

The Value of Water Coalition and the Water Environment Federation have released and are promoting the use of a new public awareness campaign and toolkit, "What's the Value of Water?" The toolkit is free and available to anyone.
