Gov. Jerry Brown remains popular, according to a new poll, but not the big projects he supports, which appear to weigh him down. Although 56 percent of California voters approve of the job Brown is doing, according to a Field Poll released today, a majority fault him for favoring “too many big government projects that the state cannot afford right now.”

O.C. district expanding its recycled water program

If you live in north or central Orange County, you are already drinking recycled water, with 70 million gallons pumped underground every day as part of the Groundwater Replenishment System. Soon, nearly double that amount will be injected underground thanks to a $143 million expansion.

Drought may mean another bad year for West Nile

Roughly 800 Californians were infected last year during the worst West Nile outbreak in a decade, new state figures show. Experts say the drought was largely to blame and predict another bad year in 2015. Last year, the state saw 798 cases, the most since 2005. Twenty-nine of those cases ended in death.
