The U.S. Water Alliance has released the third policy brief in its seven-part One Water for America Policy Framework: Sustain Adequate Funding for Water Infrastructure. Communities' needs for capital are growing for water system development and renewal. The focus must be on representing the cost of water management, making water services more cost-effective, and continuing to educate the public on infrastructure needs.

Battery storage finds a home at water utilities

In Southern California, a number of water utilities have begun to install large batteries alongside their pumping plants and water treatment facilities. Irvine Ranch Water District in Orange County has emerged as a pioneer in combining battery systems with its water distribution and wastewater treatment operations.

$12 billion in insurance claims filed over wildfires

Insurers in California have received more than $11.7 billion in claims from wildfires that ripped across Northern and Southern California last year. The series of fires in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino counties that destroyed thousands of homes generated nearly $10 billion in claims alone.
