Protected waters

President Bush will create three national monuments in the Pacific Ocean today, protecting waters near U.S.-controlled islands that contain some of the world's richest diversity of corals, fish and other sea life as well as unusual geological formations in the deepest undersea trench. A good 50 years
MCWD recently tore down this 250,000-gallon elevated welded steel tank, built in 1958 on the former Fort Ord Army Base. This tank has been replaced by  a hydro-pneumatic station, part of an $8.5 million project that includes removal of a 1 MG concrete reservoir and replacement with a 2 MG welded steel tank.
